All About Camp Milestone
❊ About
Over the river and through the woods
to hanging with all of the dogs we go…
Adopting Miles; the high drive, reactive border collie/cattle dog with a bite history put me on the path of lifelong dog lover turned professional trainer- now with over a decade of experience working in shelters, rescues, training facilities, and out in the wild with my best friend, Miles.
From my early beginnings as a 7-year-old dog walker to cleaning kennels to pay for Miles second or third attempt at training to then behavior coordinator roles in high intake shelters and rescues, my passion has always been about building relationships between people and their dogs.
I specialize in supporting reactive and fearful dogs and their owners using balanced methods rooted in compassion and connection. My approach blends real-world practicality with evidence-based training, always with an eye on the relationship and nervous system first.
I have been the dog parent apologizing for my dogs behavior, spending hours finding empty trails to give him some freedom and holding my breath every time he hit the end of the leash lunging at someone. And now, we have a long list of empty trails we love…not because we have to but because we get too. I believe having dogs in our life is a privilege and they deserve a world as fulfilled as they make ours.
And Miles? Well, he specializes in being the goodest “bad” boy i’ve ever met who loves hard and explores harder.

Loved by pups, trusted by humans.
But don’t just take my word for it, here are some things people have to say about working with Camp Milestone:
I can’t say enough great things about Austin and Camp Milestone. From the beginning, Austin has made it clear that this isn’t just dog training, she’s supporting me as an owner too. She consistently adjusts Miles’ plan based on feedback, my schedule and honestly how I’m feeling week to week. That level of flexibility and attentiveness is rare and it makes a world of difference.
Having Austin in my corner means I always have someone to hold me accountable as well as a trusted resource when I have questions between our 1:1 calls. She’s an incredible resource and a genuinely caring trainer. If you need someone to meet you, and your dog, where you are, Austin is the one.

My dog’s name is Alpen and I rescued her when she was 9 months old. Any dog requires training which I had prepared for however with very little known about her history I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had an idea of the type of life I wanted for myself and Alpen, one full of adventures where she could fully be a dog, which includes a lot off- leash exploring. With that comes a lot of trust and communication because safety is the top priority, for her, myself, and all other dogs, animals, and people she encounters. Austin worked with us over a few different sessions, assisting us in on-leash reactivity, off-leash training, and establishing clear communication between Alpen and I. Upon our arrival Austin demonstrated professionalism and clear communication. Their knowledge and experience runs deep and is clear through the training process. Do yourself and pup a favor and sign up for a training class, you will not be disappointed!

The way Camp Milestone changed the way my dog and I interact isn’t exactly what I signed up for but it’s the best gift I could have received. He even lets me groom him now! The trust we have built is worth more than I can put to words. Frank used to get sidelined on many of my longer walks because of his reactivity. The tools I learned with austin and camp milestone allow me to redirect his attention and not always, but more often than not, prevent his reactivity. I can’t recommend their training enough!!! In fact, I’d have paid twice the amount for what I got out it. 10/10!
